FAQS

Here's what you can expect.
  • Do you take Insurance?

Yes! Grace Counseling is in-network with the insurance companies below. However, please consider that insurance should be a piece of how you choose a counselor. Many people choose a counselor based on whether or not he or she receives insurance. While considering finances is important, insurance is not necessarily the best indicator of who one should choose as a counselor. Counseling can be one of the most important decisions you ever make for yourself. If you are a Christian, one of the most important qualifications to consider is does the counselor actually know how to apply Scripture to the issues with which you are struggling.

Grace Counseling is in network with:

    • Cigna
    • Blue Cross Blue Shield
    • United Healthcare
    • First Choice of the Midwest/UC Health

  • What are your fees?

Our fees are $150 per hour session. If you are self-pay we are always willing to work with you. Please let us know and we will find something that works.

  • What is a licensed professional counselor?

A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is an individual who has satisfied all the state requirements for licensure (i.e., supervised counseling experience, passing a state licensing exam). These individuals are called to abide by ethical standards deemed appropriate by the licensing board.

  • Do you only take clients who embrace the Christian Faith?

Grace Counseling operates from the divine ethic to love God by loving others. As such, anyone suffering from issues like depression, anxiety, addiction, etc. will receive care that will reflect thoughtful love, kindness, and sensitivity. You may not embrace the Christian faith, but that is not a limitation for you to receive professional care.

  • What is the difference between Christian counseling and biblical counseling?

Christian counseling is not a formal model counseling, but rather an approach to counseling that takes existing theories and research, and seeks to apply Christian principles to them.
Biblical counseling, on the other hand, is a formal and robust counseling model developed by leading counseling and theological scholars, and it finds its origin in the Bible. Biblical counseling seeks to answer the big questions of psychology such as “Who are we?”, “Why do we do the things we do?”, “How do we change?”, and “What is the purpose of change?” with its starting point being the sacred Scriptures. Biblical counseling will draw from research, but begins with the Bible, and interprets such research through a biblical lens.
